FALL RIVER: An 16-year-old Fall River girl after making false claims that she was being abducted on Nov. 10.

Halifax District RCMP responded to a call of an abduction of the girl just before 6 p.m. on Saturday night, Nov. 10, says N.S. RCMP Spokeswoman Jenn Clarke.

“The girl sent texts to her mother and told her that some people were trying to take her out of the province,” said Cpl. Clarke in a release. “The RCMP made immediate patrols and made several inquiries, only to find out that the girl was with friends in Liverpool.”

Police arrested the girl in Greenfield, Queens County, and transported her to a family member’s home and released her.

The girl is facing charges of public mischief and is scheduled to attend court in Halifax on December 20.
