Haworth named Dal female athlete of the week

WAVERLEY: Tori Haworth from Waverley has been named the Dalhousie University Muscle Milk Female Athlete of the Week for the weekending Jan. 28.

Haworth, a third-year middle blocker and Lockview High alumnus, led the Tigers to a two-match sweep of the UNB Varsity Reds over the weekend Jan. 27-28.

She recorded six kills, two aces and two blocks for a total of nine points in the Tigers 3-0 win Saturday night in Fredericton. On Sunday, she had seven kills, four aces and four blocks, earning Subway Player of the Game honours in their 3-1 win.

Haworth, a medical sciences student, is currently ranked second in the AUS in hitting percentage, block assists and aces per set.

For the males, first-year forward Chandler Yakimowicz, a hockey player, was named the MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.
