FALL RIVER: The community showed they are behind those affected by leukemia and lymphoma and involved with the Light the Night walk in droves on Oct. 13.

At the Turtleback Tap & Grill on Highway 2 in Fall River, it was a full house as people from throughout the community and even those from the city made the trek out to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.

The fundraiser also helped to show moral support towards Turtleback family member Sarah Kikuchi, who is going through treatments for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

The three-hour event featured Waverley’s own Dave and Don Carroll (Sons of Maxwell) as one of the two performers, and in turn raise $3,655 for the cause. Chris Burrows was the other performer.

For the event, patrons had a chance to win a bevy of prizes donated by local businesses through raffle tickets which were on sale at the restaurant, which is approaching it’s second year of operation, in the lead up to the fundraiser. There was also 50/50 tickets on sale.

The upbeat tunes, played by Sons of Maxwell and Burrows, had the crowd getting their Saturday night dance groove on.
