Mariners deal Phinney to Blind River

FALL RIVER: A goaltender from Fall River has headed to Ontario after being traded.

Thomson Phinney, drafted 45th overall by the Yarmouth Mariners of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League after playing with the Newbridge Academy U-18 team in 2017, was dealt by the Mariners to Blind River of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

In return, Blind River sent future considerations to Yarmouth.

In 2017-2018 with the Mariners, Phinney suited up for 11 games and turned in a 2.46 Goals Against Average and a .910 save percentage.

Phinney has already made a quick good first impression with his new teammates, picking up a win stopping 29 of 31 shots in his NOJHL debut.

He allowed just two goals and recorded a solid .935 save percentage in the contest.
