Meeting set to discuss future of Seniors Friendly Centre

HRM deems building as surplus and will be putting for sale sign on it

FALL RIVER: HRM will be discussing the future of the Seniors Friendly Centre on Fall River Road this Wednesday Oct. 26.

The public meeting is being put on by HRM’s Real Estate division.

At the meeting, set to begin at 6:30 p.m., residents will be informed about the property value of the building and land as well as what uses can take place there. Currently, it houses many community groups and their functions, including the Lions Christmas Express Food Drive, senior parties, and meetings.

The building was known as the Riverlake Community Centre. It’s location at 1018 Fall River Road is 21,600 square feet. In its past it was a former school, land deed to the School Trustees by the community in 1974 for the purpose of constructing a school.

Residents and those involved in local community groups are encouraged to come on out to hear about the sale of the building to see if their interested in putting in an application for it.

The public will be able to ask questions following the presentation.
