Sexton gets edge on friend Boyd

GRAND FALLS, N.B.: There was a Fall River connection to the 4-3 overtime win by Truro Bearcats in Maritime Junior A Hockey League action on Nov. 25 in western N.B.

Lockview High alum Kyle Sexton scored the game tying goal and game winner as Truro rallied back from a 3-1 deficit for the victory over the Grand Falls Rapids.

To make things even more interesting, Sexton scored both goals on fellow Fall River product Nolan Boyd, who took the loss in the Rapids net. Grand Falls earned four points from the weekend of action from two overtime losses and a win.

Boyd was named the game’s first star in the contest making 29 of 33 saves in the loss. He gave his team a shot for the W.

Meanwhile, Sexton was named second star for the game.

The two teams will meet again when Grand Falls travels to Truro on Jan. 18 at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Boyd and his Rapids teammates will be looking to grab the two points in this one.
