FALL RIVER: Two sisters from Fall River are getting their start in the social enterprise world right at home.

Twins Emily and Isabel Ralph and their older sister, Maria, are the brains behind the first-ever Our Community Market that is coming to Fall River at the end of October. Nova Scotia Sea Sisters is their business.

The market will take place Oct. 27 at St. John’s United Church, running from 2-5 p.m. Admission is free. There will be artisans; hot dog; tea; coffee; vendors fundraising for a cause; community groups; and youth entrepreneurs represented at the event.

According to organizers, the idea of a “community market” is to create a place where our community members can fund raise for a cause and our youth can launch their businesses in a safe place. Youth-led initiative means that youth in the community are part of the planning of this event.

“We encourage social spending to boost our economy by supporting our community members who are supporting others,” organizers said.
