Six charged by police in speeding crackdown in Waverley

WAVERLEY: Six motorists have been charged with various Motor Vehicle Act (MVA) offences following speed radar checkpoints along Highway 2 in Waverley.

The RCMP say the 21 pro-actives occurred between July 10 and July 24. Besides the six charges there were also 18 warnings handed out. They decided to setup the radar checkpoint after receiving ongoing complaints around vehicles speeding in the area.

Police say the radar sign and trailer can be seen in that area during targeted times.

“Lower Sackville Detachment, Community Policing and Halifax District Traffic Unit are all involved in this initiative to help keep our roads safe,” the RCMP said in a release.
