FLETCHERS LAKE: It might be the best spent $10 in Charlotte Johnson’s life.

The Fletchers Lake woman bought a $10 Atlantic Keno ticket for the Feb. 11 draw at the Wilson’s Gas Stop on Highway 2 in Fall River. That $10 turned into $10,000 as Johnson turned out to have the winning ticket.

Johnson said she couldn’t believe it when her ticket matched the winning numbers.

I had to check the numbers a couple of times to make sure it was a winner,” said Johnson. “I was happy to have bought the winner.”

She’s undecided with what she plans to spend the winnings on.

Atlantic Keno lets you decide how many numbers you want to wager on and how much you want to spend, says a description on Atlantic Lotto’s website.

Natalie Belliveau, spokeswoman with Atlantic Lotto, said staff are always thrilled meeting winners like Johnson.

“It’s always exciting to meet our winners in person, our winners team loves to help get people their big cheques,” said Belliveau. “It’s an exciting day for our players, and we are always truly happy for them on their big day.”

She said people can check winning numbers any time online at alc.ca, or with the new mobile ticket checker in the Atlantic Lottery app. If someone thinks they have a winning ticket for a major prize, they can call their call centre to validate and make an appointment, or you can visit their Moncton or new downtown Halifax locations to claim their prize.

As the retailer selling the winning ticket, Wilson’s will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
