FALL RIVER: A student at Lockview High has been arrested and charged for an assault with a knife on another student during an altercation between the two in a wooded area near the school on Nov. 19.

Cpl. Dal Hutchinson with Halifax District RCMP said that police responded at 12:19 p.m. to a call of an assault involving a knife on Lockview Road in Fall River.

A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody by officers after the altercation, which saw a second 15-year-old boy assaulted with a knife. The victim had a gash on his neck, which required stitches.

The victim was transported by EHS to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

While there wasn’t a lot of information from the school on the incident, there were people on social media trying to find out details of what took place.

It is reported the incident stemmed from a drug deal, however that is not confirmed.

The 15-year-old boy arrested in connection with the assault with a knife is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today, Nov. 20 on a slew of charges. Those include: Aggravated assault; possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose; extortion; robbery; and uttering threats.

Cpl. Hutchinson said the investigation is continuing.
