GRAND LAKE: Do you want to give back to your community, then becoming a volunteer firefighter with HRM Station 43 in Grand Lake/Oakfield and Station 42 in Wellington is a great way to do just that.

The two HRM Fire departments came together to hold a volunteer firefighter recruitment drive and BBQ, complete with showing off the trucks and letting the young kids spray some water out of the fire hoses.

Both Station 43 and 42 are now recruiting firefighters. To join or find out more information, stop by the fire hall on Tuesday nights in Wellington at 7 p.m. and pick up an application.

The Grand Lake/Oakfield fire station is a substation for Station 42.
