WAVERLEY: The fun is about to begin in Waverley at the annual Gold Rush Days festival, scheduled for Sept. 4-8.
The festival organizers are fine tuning their schedule for the five day event, which will include fireworks on Sept. 7 over the community (as long as the provincial burn ban remains off).
This years festival will start with a Crib tournament on Sept. 4 from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Waverley Legion.
On Sept. 5 a kids dance will be held for those in Grade Primary to Grade 6 from 6-7 p.m. at the Waverley Legion. Admission is $2 each. Wing night will occur 5-7:30 p.m. also at the Legion.
Klondike Night will take place Sept. 6 from 8-1 a.m. at Station 41 Waverley Fire Hall. It is for those 19-plus. Admission is $15 each.
Meanwhile, from 5-7 p.m. a Homemade Baked bean supper will take place at the Legion.
On Sept. 7, things kick into high gear with the Waverley Historic Walk from 11-2 p.m., beginning at 2463 Rocky Lake Drive.
Chicken burgers will be sold from 11-2 at the Heritage Museum.
Family Fun on the Village Green with Bouncy castles and much more runs from 11-3 p.m., with Mad Science from 1-3 at Station 41 Waverley Fire hall.
Supper on the green begins at 5 p.m., with the concert on the green and fireworks running from 5-9 p.m. Dwight D’Eon and Adam Driscoll along with The Plugs will be your performers.
Sunday Sept. 8 includes the Pancake Breakfast from 8-011:30 a.m. at Station 41 Waverley fire hall.
The Gold Rush youth race at McDonald Sports Park is set to begin at 10 a.m. Checkout their website www.goldrushrace.com for more details.
A treasure hunt will be held from 10:30-11:30 at the Sports Park, while tours of the Heritage Museum takes place 1-4 p.m.
From 1-5 a Paddle fest as part of Cheema’s 50th anniversary open house will take place at the club.
A gold panning demonstration with Fred Walsh will take place at the Heritage Museum at 1:30 p.m.
