LANTZ: It was a season and home opener for the ages, and one that forward Lochy Davis won’t soon forget.

Davis erupted for five goals and added an assist as the Rangers opened their Nova Scotia U15 Major Bantam hockey season in spectacular fashion, skating to a 10-5 victory over the Western Hurricanes on Saturday at Keith Miller Arena in the East Hants Sportsplex.

Davis set the tone early, scoring twice in the opening period to help the Rangers get rolling.

He struck twice more in the second period before completing his five-goal performance in a dominant offensive showing.

His fourth goal of the game, at the four-minute mark of the second period, was credited as the game-winner as the Rangers pulled away from the Hurricanes.

The Rangers received scoring contributions from several teammates, with George McKim completing a hat trick in the third period to help put the game out of reach.

McKim scored three times in the final frame, including goals at 10:52, 6:55 and 1:48. His final marker was assisted by Brady Young and Jacob Brewer.
