FALL RIVER: The Lockview High Dragons made their homecoming and senior night a memorable one Sunday afternoon, earning a 40-14 victory over the Dartmouth Spartans at the new Fall River All-Weather Turf field.

The game at Lockview High School was a chance to celebrate the graduating players and recognize their contributions to the Dragons football program.

Before kickoff, the senior players were announced onto the field alongside their parents in a special ceremony, giving families and supporters an opportunity to recognize the players as they prepare to move on from high school football.

The Dragons went on to secure the 26-point victory, although individual scoring details were not available.

The contest was slowed late in the second half following a serious on-field incident involving a Spartans player who took a hard hit and remained on the turf for an extended period.

Emergency Health Services (EHS) was called to the field, and the player was transported to hospital. Nurses who were in attendance assisted medical personnel and team officials as they worked with the player while awaiting the ambulance.

The incident brought a pause to the action as those on hand waited for the player to receive medical attention.

Sunday was also an opportunity for the Lockview community to celebrate its graduating athletes and mark a special occasion for the Dragons program at the school’s new turf facility.

The 40-14 result gave Lockview a homecoming victory while allowing the team to honour its senior players in front of family, friends and supporters.
