ENFIELD: Motorists travelling through the Horne Settlement Road area should expect delays on Oct. 20 and 21 as construction continues on the new bridge over Highway 102.

Municipal Affairs Minister and Hants East MLA John A. MacDonald said lane closures are expected from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days.

Traffic may be reduced to a stop-and-go pattern while crews place the girders for the new bridge.

Drivers are advised to plan for possible delays and allow extra time when travelling through the area.

The work is part of the ongoing $15.7-million project to construct a new overpass at Horne Settlement Road, north of the existing bridge.

The project is being carried out by Dexter Construction.

According to previous information provided by Nova Scotia Public Works, the project also includes realigning the intersection of Old Enfield Road and Horne Settlement Road to improve safety and traffic flow.

Motorists can expect periodic lane reductions during construction.

Full detours are not anticipated as part of the overall project.

The province has previously indicated the new overpass is expected to be completed in the fall of 2027.
