FALL RIVER: The charges against a Fall River man arrested on Oct. 30 by Halifax District RCMP have been upgraded, police announced in a release on Dec. 3.

Cpl. Lisa Croteau, spokeswoman with Halifax District RCMP, said the RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division has charged Michael Christopher Cunnane, 50, with several more offences following a threats complaint.

She said the investigation resulted in the arrest of a 50-year-old man from Fall River on October 30 at a home on Clivedon Court in the Schwarzwald subdivision.

Police had converged on the street, blocking access to most and rerouting school buses from that area, according to residents. It had several residents messaging The Laker News to find out what was going on.

When asked on Oct. 30 about what was taking place, Cpl. Croteau said that there was no risk to the public and police were attempting to arrest someone.

On November 30, charges against Cunnane were updated. He is now charged with the following:

·         Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

·         Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

·         Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited

·         Assault with a Weapon

·         Assault (four times)

·         Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm (12 times)

·         Uttering Threats
