Dragons hoop girls grab bronze

FALL RIVER: The Lockview High Dragons girls hoops team returned from the DNA Swag Greater Moncton Ladies high school basketball classic with a bronze medal.

The Dragons went 3-0 in round-robin play, before falling in a crossover game to Moncton High relegating them to the bronze medal game. In that contest, the Dragons downed Bernice McNaughton High to capture the third place position.

Lockview was led in the bronze medal game by Grace Lancaster with 17 points. Abbi Gaudry scored 13 points, while Ashleigh Marshall had 10 points. Lancaster was the player of the game.

Sarah Mowat had 13 points to lead Bernice McNaughton.

In round-robin play, Lockview defeated BMHS 45-41 led by

Marshall with 22 points. Gracie MacIntyre had eight points and Emma Foye eight points.

In the second game, Lockview downed Charlottetown Rural 55-44. Lancaster scored 16 points, while Foye had 15 points and Marshall, named player of the game, contributed 12 points.

Lockview downed Harrison Trimble High 49-44 to push the record to 3-0. The Dragons were led by player of the game Foye. On the scoresheet MacIntyre, Lauren Fry, and Lancaster each scored nine points.

In the crossover game against Moncton High, who would eventually lose in the championship, Lancaster led the Dragons with 13 points in a 58-43 loss. Marshall netted nine points and Foye had seven points.

Horton High School defeated Moncton High 79-48 in the championship game to take home the title.
