HALIFAX: The annual Hyundai Hope on Wheels Canada-wide tour is bringing its inspiring Handprint Ceremony back to Nova Scotia with a significant donation to IWK Health to support children and their families who are facing a battle against cancer.
The $100,000 grant that will be presented to IWK Health at the Handprint Ceremony is part of Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to support pediatric cancer research and care across Canada.
The donation will support children and families affected by cancer, while reinforcing the shared mission to bring hope and progress to young patients facing one of life’s toughest battles.
The Handprint Ceremony will also feature IWK Health Patient Ambassador Landon O’Neill. Just this past March, the 15-year-old’s parents raced him to IWK Health when what they thought was a head cold turned into their son’s face turning blue with constant vomiting.
A chest X-ray showed an abnormal growth in his chest, pressing on his heart.

After having a bone marrow biopsy, Landon and his parents received the life-changing news that he has T-lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LL).
This rare and aggressive cancer affects the lymphatic system, which is supposed to protect the body from infections.
A non-profit initiative, Hyundai Hope on Wheels, is dedicated to helping children fight cancer.
Besides donating critical funding, the campaign shares the inspiring stories of families who have faced the battle, with children who have been down — or are currently on — the path, leaving their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle to create a colourful tribute to their journeys and the incredible strength they demonstrate every day.
Together, these handprints transform the vehicle into a moving symbol of hope, resilience and a shared commitment to ending childhood cancer.
The presentation will take place at a private event on Sept. 28 in Halifax.
