WINDSOR JUNCTION: Highly touted and talented winger Claire Langille is going to ply her passion for soccer on The Rock beginning in September 2020.

The Memorial Sea-Hawks women’s soccer team made the announcement of the Lockview High School standout’s commitment to their program in a release in mid November. They call the news of her joining the NL-based university as a “tremendous signing.”

Hailing from Windsor Junction, Langille’s accomplished soccer resume includes Suburban FC, Nova Scotia provincial teams, and the REX program. She intends to major in sciences at Memorial.

Initially hearing about Memorial’s program from her coaches throughout her career, Claire said the school is well-known in the area.

“I first got in contact with Coach Power after a tournament in Toronto,” said Langille. “I’m excited for next season, and most looking forward to getting settled in a new place away from home, and having fun playing my favourite sport with my new teammates.”

On the signing, Head Coach Mike Power noted that one has to see the smile on her face when she hits the pitch.

“Claire is a top-tier recruit who will add a very different aspect to our attacking play,” said Power in a release. “We believe she has the potential to be a real difference maker in the AUS.

“To complete the whole package, she’s also a terrific student and an overall class act. We can’t wait to get her in a Sea-Hawks jersey.”

This season saw the Sea-Hawks reach the conference semi-final for the sixth consecutive season. Coach Power will hope the addition on this dynamic winger can play a part in helping the team over that hurdle and towards the AUS Championship.
