COOKS BROOK: One person escaped unhurt from an early morning fire in a mobile home trailer in Cooks Brook on Oct. 4, fire officials say.

Shortly after 3 a.m., Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency Services firefighters were paged for a trailer on fire with flames out of the roof in the 15000 block of Hwy 224 in Cooks Brook, said District Chief for Division 4 Gord West in an interview on Oct. 4.

Approximately 25 firefighters from Station 40 (Dutch Settlement); Station 38 (Middle Musquodoboit); Station 36 (Meagher’s Grant); Station 47 (Goffs); Station 35 (Cooks Brook); Station 45 (Fall River); Milford fire; Shubenacadie Fire; and Lantz Fire.

“It was fire we could only battle defensively,” said West.

West said the mobile trailer was a complete loss.

He said he was told one person was able to get out of the trailer before it became fully engulfed. No one was injured in the fire.

Crews were on scene until around 8 a.m. before they cleared.

West said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
