Public Meeting to be held on Eastlink cell tower proposal

WINDSOR JUNCTION: Eastlink is hosting a Public Information Meeting on April 2 to inform residents of plans to construct a telecommunications tower at the corner of Cobequid Road and Windsor Junction Road.

A sign with information pertaining to the proposal was put up at the corner by Greentree Recycling recently. The monopole telecommunication tower is set to be 50 metres (164 feet) in height

The meeting will be held at Halifax Ground, Search and Rescue’s building in Lakeview. It is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Residents can submit written comments to Eastlink regarding the proposal. The deadline to do so is April 16. To submit written comments, write to the Eastlink Wireless Site Planner at community.relations@corp.eastlink.ca or call 902-818-5971.

The posted notice said the while feedback is important, telecommunication tower/antenna facilities are exclusively regulated by federal legislation. It says HRM does not have the authority to approve or refuse construction of projects such as this.
