WAVERLEY: Nova Scotia RCMP has charged three drivers with stunting over the weekend in Waverley, and Grand Pre.
On August 8 at approximately 5:15 p.m., a member of the RCMP Southeast Traffic Services saw a car travelling at a high rate of speed on Hwy. 118 in Waverley.
The officer activated the RADAR and measured the speed at 160 km/h in a 100 km/hr zone, 60 over the speed limit. The officer stopped the car and charged the driver, a 29-year-old man from Valley, with Stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.
On August 8 at approximately 7 p.m. a member of the RCMP Southeast Traffic Service saw a car traveling at a high rate of speed on Hwy. 118 in Waverley. The officer activated the RADAR and measured the speed at 187 km/h in a 100 km/hr zone, 87 over the speed limit.
The officer stopped the car and charged the driver, a 35-year-old man from East Preston, with Stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.
On August 10 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a member of Kings District RCMP travelling on Hwy. 101 in Grand Pre saw a car travelling at a high rate of speed.
The officer activated the Lidar and measured the speed at 192 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone, 92 km/hr over the speed limit. The officer stopped the car and charged the driver, a 21-year-old man from Wolfville with Stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.
The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50. Speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads.
