FALL RIVER: A vehicle fire just before 8 a.m. closed Fall River Road for about half an hour this morning, Nov. 26, to traffic as fire crews responded to the scene.

Station 45 Fall River firefighters were paged to a vehicle on fire in front of Georges P. Vanier Junior High at 7:51 a.m. and they knocked down the fire quickly. Engine 45 with career firefighters and Tanker 45 with volunteer firefighters attended the scene.

RCMP also were paged to the scene for assistance with traffic control.

The vehicle is reportedly a write-off.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman, was not injured and got out of the vehicle. She was picked up by a family member at the scene.

Fall River Road was closed by Station 45 for about 25 minutes as crews worked before reopening to one lane. The scene was cleared shortly after.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
