GRAND LAKE: Women on Wheels (WoW) has started in the Grand Lake area.
WoW meets every Monday at 5:45 p.m. at the entrance of Laurie Park on Highway 2 in Grand Lake. The bike riders depart at 6 p.m. There are no rides if there is rain.
In a posting on Facebook it says experience is not important, and the rides are perfect for new riders to improve their biking skills and confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
The average distance the group cycles is 15 kilometres, increasing gently each week. It is encouraged that riders join Bicycle N.S. for $30 after a couple of rides. That gives the riders additional insurance and have sanctioned the group.
On the BNS website [ http://bicycle.ns.ca/ ] there’s a place to join the Grand Lake WoW (free with BNS membership).
