FLETCHERS LAKE: An 18-year-old man from Cow Bay has been arrested following a pair of break-and-enters in the Flecthers Lake area.

N.S. RCMP CPl. Jen Clarke said that shortly before 9 a.m. on July 9, police responded to a report of a suspicious person on Brook Street in Fletchers Lake.

The caller reported a man came to her door and said he needed to use the washroom and he had been out jogging,” said Cpl. Clarke in a release. “The caller did not believe him and refused to allow him into her home. The man left and then returned a short time later, trying to gain entry to her home. She called police.

She said an officer responded, and asked a witness in the area if he had seen anyone matching the suspect’s description.

“The witness advised he had seen the suspect in the driveway of another home a short time earlier,” said Cpl. Clarke. “The RCMP officer went to the home where the suspect had been seen and spotted him inside.”

The officer yelled to the man that he was under arrest, and the man attempted to flee.

“He was intercepted by the RCMP officer and secured in the back of the police vehicle,” she said. “He was found to be in possession of property from two other homes on the same street.”

Declan Robichaud from Cow Bay is facing several charges in relation to these incidents: two counts of Break, Enter and Commit; two counts Break and Enter with Intent; two counts of Theft Under $5,000; and four counts of Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.

He appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 10.
