LANTZ: The East Hants Senior Men’s Mastodons are headed west with a national championship in their sights.
The Mastodons will represent East Hants and Nova Scotia at the 2026 Senior Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship, running August 26-30 at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex in Saskatoon, Sask.
The East Hants club will open its national tournament Wednesday evening against the host province’s Saskatoon Jacks, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Atlantic time.
The Mastodons will play five round-robin games over three days before the playoff round begins August 29.

Their round-robin schedule is:
Aug. 26 — 6:30 p.m. AT: vs. Saskatoon Jacks (SK1)
Aug. 27 — 12 a.m. AT: vs. Earl Grey Rockets (SK2)
Aug. 27 — 4:15 p.m. AT: vs. Waterdown Hammer (ON3)
Aug. 28 — 2:30 p.m. AT: vs. Josh Collins Racing Reds (NL2)
Aug. 28 — 7 p.m. AT: vs. Toronto Batmen (ON1)
The Mastodons are in a six-team pool that also includes the Jacks, Rockets, Waterdown, Toronto and Josh Collins Racing Reds.
The top teams will advance through the playoff bracket, with the championship game set for Sunday, August 30.

This year’s tournament features teams from across the country, including clubs from British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan,
Softball Canada describes its Canadian championships as the pinnacle of competition for many athletes, with teams competing for a national championship.
For the Mastodons, it is an opportunity to once again put East Hants fast pitch on the national stage.
The championship gold-medal game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Atlantic time Sunday, August 30, at Joe Gallagher Field in Saskatoon.
