SUMMERSIDE, PEI: The Nova Scotia 15U Selects have made history.
Competing at the 2026 Ray Carter Cup in Summerside, P.E.I., from August 20–23, the Nova Scotia squad battled through a tough national field and finished the tournament with a historic bronze medal, the first time Nova Scotia has medaled in the 15U age group with all provinces represented.
The Selects opened the tournament in impressive fashion, cruising to a 10-0 victory over Newfoundland. Their momentum was tested in their second game, when Manitoba handed Nova Scotia its first loss of the tournament in a tight 5-3 battle.
Rather than letting the loss derail them, the Selects responded with determination.
Nova Scotia edged New Brunswick 2-1 before defeating host province P.E.I. 5-3, finishing the round robin with a 3-1(won-loss) record and first place in their pool.
That result guaranteed the Selects a spot in the semifinals — and, more importantly, guaranteed Nova Scotia a chance to play for a medal.
It was a milestone in itself. The last time Nova Scotia had a team reach the medal round at this level was 2013.

In the semifinal, the Selects faced a powerful Ontario team.
Ontario proved too much on the day, earning a 10-0 victory and advancing to the championship game. Ontario would ultimately go on to win the tournament.
For Nova Scotia, however, there was still history to be made.
The Selects faced Saskatchewan in the bronze medal game, and what followed was a classic pitcher’s duel.
Nova Scotia’s pitching staff was outstanding, combining for eight strikeouts while keeping Saskatchewan’s hitters off balance.
At the plate, the Selects continued to battle, collecting six hits and producing the runs they needed.
When the final out was recorded, Nova Scotia had secured a 2-0 victory, and with it, a place in provincial baseball history.

It was the first 15U medal for Nova Scotia at the national championship when all provinces were represented.

The achievement was not simply the result of four days of baseball. This group had been building toward this moment for years.
Of the 17 players on the Nova Scotia roster, 10 had played together on the team in two of the past three years, while six players had been together for all three years.
That familiarity created a strong bond among the players, one that became particularly important when the team faced adversity during the tournament.
Along with that returning core came a group of new players who brought their own skills and energy to the roster. Together, under the guidance of a strong coaching staff, the players developed into a cohesive and dangerous team capable of competing on the national stage.
Their 3-1 round-robin record, semifinal appearance and historic bronze medal were the payoff.
For the Nova Scotia 15U Selects, the 2026 Ray Carter Cup will be remembered not only for the medal they brought home, but for the years of teamwork, commitment and friendship that helped make it possible.
