WINDSOR JUNCTION: A race car driver from the Windsor Junction community is looking to get in one last race of the 2020 season this weekend.
Ayden Christensen will be piloting his no. 24 Lively’s-Rooftight Construction-The Laker News Bandolero during Bando race action as part of Thanksgiving Thunder at Sydney Speedway Oct. 10-11. Practice is set for Friday Oct. 9, from 3 p.m. til dusk.
He is also taking his no. 24 Legend car to the track and may hit the track for some race action in it as well, although that is undetermined.
The Bandit bandolero driver is coming off a successful CARQUEST Weekly Racing Series action at Scotia Speedworld in the COVID-shortened season. He also saw race time at Petty in Moncton, N.B., and at Speedway 660 during Speed Weekend in Geary, N.B.
Here is how the race format looks for the racing at Sydney, which has a max of 250 fans allowed due to COVID19 restrictions, looks like.
Racing begins at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-11. If you can’t be at the track, tune in for the LIVE broadcast of race action on TimsCorner.ca TV (go subscribe).
The Laker News’ Pat Healey will be assisting with the broadcast, likely as director so tune in.
