ST. JOHN’S, NL: Nova Scotia is coming home from the first ever girls baseball competition at the Canada Games as fourth best in the country.
The team includes several players from the Fall River area.
Olivia Warford, Ashlyn Day; Iris Long; and Georgia Hines, all of Fall River were on Team N.S., coached by Dean Lee.
The girls put on a great showing throughout the week of tournament play, and even against stronger competition like B.C. in the bronze medal game but Lady Luck just wasn’t on their side. B.C. took the bronze medal game.
The players all had come up through the LWF baseball Association system.

Nova Scotia finished perfect in Pool B at 4-0 (won-loss).
They were in a pool with N.B., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and PEI.
The team scored 56 runs for while surrendering just 15 during round-robin play.
In the semi-final on Saturday, N.S. got out to a 2-0 lead but Alberta battled back to win 5-2 and advance to the championship game.
Ontario would defeat Alberta in the gold medal game 8-5.
