BROOKFIELD: The Brookfield U17 Elks are Canadian champions.
And for fast pitch fans across East Hants, the gold-medal celebration is even sweeter, with several local players helping lead the Nova Scotia club to the top of the country.
The Elks capped an incredible run at the 2026 U17 Canadian Fast pitch Championship in Surrey, B.C. with a 5-1 victory over Quebec in the national championship game, finishing the tournament with eight straight wins.
From the opening pitch, the Nova Scotia squad showed it belonged on the national stage.
Brookfield got on the board in the second inning when Cam Isenor of Stewiacke singled and Aidan Stewart of the Elmsdale area followed with a double, putting two runners in scoring position.
Cale Fraser then brought Isenor home to give the Elks an early 1-0 lead.

The boys added another run in the fourth inning, with Cooper Singer of Shortts Lake area coming around to score on a ball put in play by Stewart, extending the advantage to 2-0.
Then came the fifth.
Dave Perrin started things off with a single before Singer drove in Ewan White with a single to right.
Isenor followed with a clutch two-run single, bringing home Perrin and Singer and suddenly opening up a 5-0 lead.
Quebec managed to get one run back in the sixth, but Nova Scotia’s defence and pitching refused to crack.

Perrin responded with back-to-back strikeouts to shut down the Quebec threat and preserve the championship lead.
It was another outstanding performance from Perrin, who was dominant throughout the tournament.
As a result, he was named MVP of the championship round.
For the Elks, the championship capped a remarkable run: five round-robin victories, three playoff wins and eight consecutive victories on the biggest stage in Canadian U17 fast pitch.
For the players from East Hants, it is a moment to savour bringing national championship gold back home after representing their communities on one of the country’s biggest fast pitch stages.
