LANTZ: The East Hants Ritchie’s Renovations & Excavating Penguins have added some size, skill and a familiar face to their blue line with the signing of hometown defenceman Ian Ramsay.
The six-foot-five, 215-pound blueliner is set to bring an impressive combination of size, mobility and skill to the Penguins’ lineup this season.
Ramsay is known for his strong skating ability and heavy shot, giving the club another big, mobile presence on the back end.
The Belnan product comes to the Penguins following junior experience with both the Navan Grads of the Central Canada Hockey League and the Pictou County Weeks Crushers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

Last season with the Crushers, Ramsay appeared in 42 games, recording six assists and six points while gaining valuable experience at the Junior A level.
Overall, Ramsay has played in 87 Junior A games between Navan and Pictou County. Before beginning his Junior A career, he played at Kimball Union Academy.
Now, Ramsay will have the opportunity to continue his hockey journey close to home.
The Penguins are excited to welcome the hometown defenceman to the organization and will be looking forward to seeing what the big blueliner can bring to the lineup this season.
With his combination of size, skating ability and a powerful shot from the point, Ramsay could become an important addition to the Penguins’ defensive corps.
