DARTMOUTH: Rebecca LeBlanc was strong between the pipes, and Lacey Poirier scored twice as the Lindsay Surge surged to a 5-1 Maritime Major Girls Hockey League victory.
The Sunday morning game against Metro rival, Greenfoot Energy Capitals, was played in Arena C at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth Crossing.
It was the back end of a home-and-home set between the two Halifax Regional Municipality clubs, with the Surge taking the Saturday game at the Greenfoot Energy Centre in Bedford on Saturday night.
On Sunday, the only blemish to Beaver Bank’s LeBlanc’s solid outing in goal was the goal the Caps scored on her with under a minute left in regulation to break up her shutout bid.
LeBlanc didn’t have a chance at the shot that got past her. Otherwise, the Robert Morris University (RMU) Colonials 2027-28 commit had another standout game in net.

Poirer scored twice back to back in the third period to increase the Surge lead from 3-0 to 5-0 before the Caps scored late to make it 5-1.
Also getting on the goal scoring list in this game for the Surge were Nora Hartnell of Fall River; Danica Joseph; and Gabby Buffett.
Buffett was good at dishing out the puck to her teammates, credited with two assists in the game. Also with two helpers were Nevaeh Robertson and Mya MacCormick.
Single assists went to Joseph.
Other Beaver Bank/Fall River area players on the Surge in this game included: Alina Gould; MacKenzie Rossong; Izzy Kim. Rachel Hartnell, also of Fall River, is also on the Surge but is sidelined and did not play in this game.
Josie Leslie of Fall River had a good game for the Capitals on the ice, although nothing found the scoresheet for her.
In goal, Caps goalie Sophie Zettler faced 33 shots, stopping 28 in getting tagged with the loss.
