FALL RIVER: Christmas This Spring, the program put on by the Lions Christmas Express to ensure those hurting during the COVID19 pandemic have food on their table, received a boost of support on June 20.

Before deliveries were made or those receiving food boxes picked them up at the LWF Hall parking lot, a cheque from the LWF (Lakeview-Windsor Junction-Fall River) Ratepayers Association was presented to the volunteer organizers with Christmas This Spring.

The money is the support for the June deliveries, which took place June 6 and 20. They served about 35 clients in the area communities.

Organizers said the next delivery for the food boxes is July 4 and the last one is July 18. They will then focus on the traditional winter program, which begins usually in late October.

Local businesses such as The Vegetorium Country Food Market and Sobeys Fall River have stepped up to support the initiative with veggies and other food for the recipients.

Beacon House has also come on to provide some extra goodies for recipients.

At the LWF Hall, Stephanie Dube and Paula Beck were presented with the cheque for financial support from the LWF Ratepayers, represented by Marni Tuttle and Cathy Deagle-Gammon.

In order to finish off strong for the final two deliveries in July, Christmas This Spring could use your support. To do so, make a donation by clicking here. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation.

The volunteers who take time out of their Saturdays to make the deliveries wish to thank those who have supported by making a donation to help those less fortunate neighbours in our communities.
