LANTZ: The chief medical officer of health for the province said it was a difficult decision putting in restrictions to limit travel from outside communities into restricted areas, such as Enfield, Elmsdale, and Lantz.

Dr. Robert Strang was answering a question during the March 2 COVID19 briefing from The Laker News.

We asked why kids from say Belnan could go into Elmsdale and attend school with friends, who are teammates on their hockey and other sport teams but could not attend practices with those same friends.

“We put in the border restrictions only asking for essential travel in and out of HRM,” said Dr. Strang. “No matter where we draw the border, we’re always going to have these types of challenges of people moving for various activities.”

He said they are looking at if they can alleviate some restrictions given the low case numbers of recent.

“It’s one of the areas we’re looking at actively on whether we can make changes to that well before the March 26 deadline that we announced last week,” he said.
