Dutch Settlement man identified as vicitim of crash on Hwy 277

DUTCH SETTLEMENT: A 70-year-old man from Dutch Settlement has been killed in a single-vehicle collision Monday morning, Aug. 3, shortly before 8 a.m. on Hwy 277.

In a release Halifax District RCMP spokeswoman, Cpl. Lisa Croteau, said police along with fire crews from area fire departments and EHS responded to the crash at approximately 7:50 a.m. near the 400 block on Hwy 277 in Dutch Settlement.

Upon their arrival, they located a van which had left the road and struck a tree.

“The driver and lone occupant, a 70-year-old man from Dutch Settlement was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Cpl. Croteau.

An RCMP Collision Analyst attended, and the highway was closed for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time,” said Cpl. Croteau.
