Early morning Sunday crash in Grand Lake sends man to hospital

GRAND LAKE: An early morning single-vehicle collision Oct. 27 on Highway 2 in Grand Lake sent a Halifax man to hospital.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., firefighters from Station 42 Wellington; Station 43 Grand Lake; and Enfield Fire were paged for the collision near Laurie Park. Station 45 Fall River was later called to the crash scene for help with extrication.

Halifax District RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Lisa Croteau said when police arrived they found the vehicle off the road, in the ditch and onto its side.

“The male driver from Halifax was taken to hospital by EHS for non-life threatening injuries,” said Cpl. Croteau.

Witnesses near the scene said the man may have been impaired by alcohol. However, police would not confirm or deny this when asked.

“The RCMP can say that the investigation is ongoing,” said Cpl. Croteau. “No charges have been laid at this time.”
