ELMSDALE/NINE MILE RIVER: East Hants residents still have several opportunities to share their thoughts on a proposed public transit service, with a series of community engagement sessions scheduled throughout October and November.

The Municipality of East Hants is exploring the possibility of introducing scheduled transit service in the Corridor region and is encouraging residents to help shape what that service could look like.

The proposed initial pilot route would connect Lantz, Elmsdale, Enfield and Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

Municipal staff and project consultants will be available at upcoming public sessions to discuss potential routes, costs, timetables and the possible benefits of introducing transit service.

Residents can also complete online survey

Those unable to attend a session can still provide feedback through an online survey that takes approximately five minutes to complete.

The survey asks residents about their transportation needs, current travel habits and interest in public transit.

The survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/easthants-transit.

The proposed service could help connect residents with employment, health care, post-secondary education and other essential services, while potentially reducing transportation costs for households.

The municipality is seeking input on where transit is needed most and what a service should look like to meet the needs of residents, workers, students and visitors.

Feedback gathered through the engagement process will help inform the municipality’s next steps as it explores the proposed transit service.
