FALL RIVER: A new free walking group at Lockview High School is bringing residents together through slow-paced exercise and friendship.
Organized by Richard Antcliff, the Fall River Niko Niko Club welcomed approximately 20 participants to the walking track at the new all-weather turf field on Saturday, Oct. 10, under cool but sunny skies.
“Niko Niko” is a Japanese expression associated with smiling, and the activity focuses on moving at a comfortable pace while enjoying the company of others.

Antcliff said he started the group because he wanted to get out and exercise more, and figured doing it with friends would make it more enjoyable.
“If you can walk, you can Niko Niko and get all those benefits,” he said.
The club is free and welcomes anyone interested in getting active in a relaxed, social setting.
The group meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. at the Lockview High School walking track.
