NORTH SALEM: A 39-year-old man has been charged with not following health guidelines upon returning to N.S. from outside the Atlantic Bubble.

On Oct. 4, East Hants RCMP responded to Atlantic Motorsport Park in North Salem, near Shubenacadie, for a report of a suspected impaired driver.

“Upon arrival, police intercepted a male who fit the description walking in the proximity of the suspect vehicle,” said S/Sgt. Cory Bushell. “The male had no shoes and was barefoot.”

The investigation revealed he was not intoxicated.

“However, he had just returned from a trip to Quebec and was not self-isolating as per the Health Protection Act (HPA),” said S/Sgt. Bushell. “He was subsequently charged under the HPA and given a $1,000 fine.”
