ENFIELD: A Newbridge Academy Senator alum will be donning a Tigers jersey beginning this fall.

The Dalhousie University Tigers men’s hockey team announced the commitment of Shaun Miller on June 11 to the squad. It was made official by head coach Chris Donnelly in a press release posted on the teams website.

Miller, of Enfield, just finished his final year of eligibility in the QMJHL. In those five eyars, he suited up in 287 games (regular season and playoffs) recording 55 goals during the regular season with Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, the Cape Breton Eagles, and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. He also picked up 97 assists in the regular season.

Last year, between the Eagles and Huskies, who acquired him at the Q trade deadline, he tallied 15 goals and 25 helpers for 40 points.

Miller is joining fellow N.S. Canada Games teammates Derek Gentile and Christian Huntley in the Tigers 2020-21 recruitment class. Miller scored three goals and added four assists in their six games, making him the team’s top scorer at the event.

“I’m excited to be joining a top tier school that holds high standards for students and athletes,” says Miller, who will be studying business management.

Donnelly remarked on what Miller brings to the Tigers.

“Shaun joins our program after playing close to 300 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and compiling 162 points over his career,” says Donnelly. “An experienced forward, Shaun is best described as a hard-working player who has tremendous speed and a heavy shot.”

The Tigers finished the 2019-20 regular season in seventh-place, just outside of a playoff spot.
