Todd, Vallis taken during MHL draft

BEAVER BANK/LANTZ: A defenceman from Lantz and a forward from Beaver Bank both heard their names called during the virtually held Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MHL) draft, held on June 13.

Jarrett Todd of Beaver Bank was taken in round four, while Lantz product Ethan Vallis had to wait until the ninth round to be called.

Todd, who was drafted by the Charlottetown Islanders a week earlier in the QMJHL draft, was taken by the Campbellton Tigers with the first pick in round four.

The Halifax McDonald’s forward, listed at five-foot-eight and 150 pounds, had 15 goals and 28 points in 29 games played with the Macs in the 2019-2020 NSMMHL season.

Vallis, who was taken with the eighth pick of the ninth round by the Valley Wildcats, suited up with the Cole Harbour Wolfpack.

He tallied one goal and nine assists in 29 games played with the Wolfpack, while compiling 40 penalty minutes.

The Major Bantam Ranger alum had six goals and 18 assists during two years with the East Hants Sportsplex-based Rangers.

Other Rangers drafted in the MHL draft included: Alex Carr – fourth overall to South Shore; Carter Murchison – 64th overall to Summerside; and Jaden Hardie – 91st overall to Valley.
