REGINA, SK.: A kayaker from Fall River completed what is thought to be a first at Canoe Kayak Canadian national championships.
Elizabeth Fanok, who competes for Banook Canoe Club in Dartmouth, came home from the nationals at Wascana Lake in Regina, Sask., with an eight-medal haul—all gold in colour.
Fanok is originally from the Pickering Rouge Canoe Club but her family moved to Fall River last year.
She began competing out of Banook at that time and has had a medal-filled summer.
At nationals, Fanok, who is just 15-years-old, won gold in U-16 K1 200 metres; 1000 metres; 6000 metres; K2 500 metres, 1000 metres; K4 500 metres, 1000 metres; and U18 K4 500 metres.
