Fall River’s Lancaster drops 16 as Panthers earn victory over SMU

HALIFAX: A Lockview High girls basketball alum led her Atlantic University Sport team to victory before friends and family in Halifax on Nov. 20.

Grace Lancaster scored 16 points and had two defensive rebounds in her UPEI Panthers 67-53 win over the St. Mary’s Huskies in Halifax.

The game was worth four points for a win, and capped off a winning weekend for the Island club who also beat Acadia on Friday night.

Devon Lawlor also had 16 points in the game for the victors.

The performance was enough to have Lancaster named the Panthers Subway AUS Player of the Game.

The Fall River product played 29 minutes and was among the starters for the contest. She also had one steal, three of seven from the three point line, and five for 12 from field goal line.

Lancaster and her Panthers head back to N.S. for another four point game this Saturday Nov. 27 in Antigonish. It’s the final regular season game before the Christmas break, and she will be looking to carry her strong play into this game.
