FLETCHERS LAKE: A brush fire behind a pair of homes on Holland Road in Fletchers Lake on May 7 was quickly extinguished.

About 10 firefighters from Station 45 Fall River; and Station 42 Wellington were paged to the scene, across from Holland Road Elementary School shortly after 1 :15 p.m. Crews used water from Tanker 45 to get the fire under control, soaking the ground where it was ongoing.

Smoke was spewing into the air and the smell was strong. Nearby residents saw the smoke and even came up to where it was to see what was going on.

Firefighters quickly got it snuffed out as it tracked into the backyard of a second house, which is listed for sale. Crews were returning to station shortly after 2 p.m.
