ENFIELD: East Hants RCMP had just 67 calls for service during the period of Feb. 26 to March 2.

On February 23rd, East Hants members received a report from a local resident who was the victim of a $9,000 Fraud.

The victim transferred the cash to a company in the United Kingdom for a vehicle stored in Quebec. Once the cash was sent, the seller no longer answered the victims calls and the Facebook marketplace site was taken down.

East Hants RCMP were informed on Feb. 25 by a resident that they had been having a conversation with an unknown man on Tinder.

The resident had been speaking to the man for the last few weeks without incident. However, he recently asked the resident to send money so he could fly to visit her.

The resident refused and the man became enraged.

According to police, the profile was removed from Tinder and the resident now knows it was a scam.

On Feb. 25, officers with the Enfield detachment received a complaint about a male door to door salesperson soliciting money for World Wildlife Fund in the Lantz area.

The caller requested the salesperson provide a pamphlet or some other proof he was representing who he said he was.  The suspect was unable to provide anything except a lanyard which stated “canvasser.”

East Hants RCMP wants to remind residents that any door-to-door solicitors should have proper identification.  Don’t be fooled by a smooth-talking scammer.
