NINE MILE RIVER: Here are the calls from local fire departments in Nine Mile River; Stewiacke; Indian Brook; Enfield; Elmsdale; Milford; Shubenacadie; Rawdon; Kennetcook; and Mount Uniacke for the month of October 2020

The calls are provided by each volunteer fire department monthly to The Laker News.

Call info for the month from Lantz Fire had not been submitted by press time.

Nine Mile River Fire had two calls for the month, one being a motor vehicle collision and one a call to assist East Hants RCMP.

For Stewiacke Fire, they had eight calls, led by three motor vehicle collisions. They also had one call each for mutual aid request; vehicle fire; garbage fire; smoke conditions; and a fire investigation.

Indian Brook Fire were paged out five times during the month, with three of the calls being mutual aid requests to Shubenacadie Fire (two motor vehicle collisions and one CO2 alarm activations); one commercial fire alarm; and one mutual aid request to RCMP.

Milford Fire responded to five calls in the month, two of which were in the community itself. Three other calls were mutual aid related.

The calls were two motor vehicle collisions on Hwy 2 in Milford on Oct 2 and Oct. 13, while mutual aid calls were to HRM Station 35 Cooks Brook for a residential structure fire on Oct. 4; Shubenacadie for an mvc on Hwy 102 on Oct. 21 and a residential CO alarm on Oct. 28

For Shubenacadie Fire, they responded to nine calls, led by three alarm activations, two Hwy 102 moto vehicle collisions; and two mutual aid motor vehicle collisions; one mutual aid request for a structure fire; and one grass fire.

Elmsdale Fire were paged to six calls in the month, with four motor vehicle collisions. They also attended to one fire alarm activations and one structure fire.

For firefighters with Enfield Fire, they had three motor vehicle collision calls; two fire alarm activations; and one brush fire.

Rawdon fire responded to two mutual aid requests to a neighbouring department and one motor vehicle collision in the month of October.

For Uniacke Fire in October, they had 10 calls that they heard their pagers go off for. That number included two CO2 detector alarms; two fire alarms; two motor vehicle collisions; two fire investigations; one medical assist; and one structure fire.

Kennetcook fire had two calls, one motor vehicle collision and one structure fire.
