EAST HANTS: A Halifax County man who was selling lobster in Elmsdale on May 8 has been issued a ticket for violating the Health Protection Act.

According to Sgt. Martin Roy, with East Hants RCMP, police received an anonymous complaint regarding a COVID-19 violation taking place as a man was selling lobster in Elmsdale without a permit and outside of his own municipality, which is HRM.

“Members attended and observed the man not wearing a mask or gloves while interacting closely with people, not respecting social distancing, purchasing lobsters from him,” said Sgt. Roy.

“Upon investigating the complaint and the conditions the suspect was attending his customers, he was served a violation ticket, under the Health Protection Act, of $2,422.00. “
