SOUTH RAWDON: A 39-year-old Russian citizen living in Halifax has been charged with impaired driving after a motor vehicle collision in the Rawdon area.

East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell said on Nov. 13 officers responded to an MVC on South Rawdon Road. Upon arrival, officers determined the driver, the 39-year-old, had lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road into the ditch.

“The driver exhibited signs of intoxication and was taken to the detachment where samples of his breath showed he was driving well over the legal limit,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.

He said further investigation revealed the man has been in Canada for several years on temporary residency status.

“This prompted police to report the incident to Immigration Canada for review,” he said.

S/Sgt. Bushell said the man was charged with impaired driving, released and will face the courts at a later date.
