Impaired driving charge laid in Elmsdale collision

ELMSDALE: A 19-year-old Corridor area man has been arrested for impaired driving following a single-vehicle collision in Elmsdale.

East Hants RCMP S/Sgt. Cory Bushell said police were called Nov. 24 to a subdivision in Elmsdale where a vehicle had driven off the road and into the ditch.

“Upon arrival, the members encountered the driver, a 19-year-old man from the local area who was exhibiting signs of intoxication,” said S/Sgt. Bushell.

The man was given the roadside screening device which he failed.

S/Sgt. Bushell said the man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the detachment where he provided samples of his breath well in excess of twice the legal limit.

The man was later released and will face the courts for charges on impaired driving at a later date.
