FALL RIVER: It took 11 innings to decide the provincial champion, but the LWF U15 Tier 1A Miners came away with plenty to be proud of after a marathon battle for gold.
The Miners battled Richmond County through 11 tense innings in what was one of the games of the year, with the two teams locked in a 2-2 deadlock until the Cape Breton club finally broke through in the 11th inning.
Richmond County scored four runs in the top of the 11th to pull away for a 6-3 victory and capture the provincial gold medal.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, the Miners put together an outstanding provincial championship run, making it all the way to the Gold Medal Game and ultimately bringing home the Provincial Silver Medal.

The championship game was a testament to the determination and resilience of both teams, with neither side willing to give an inch through the first 10 innings.
For the Miners, the silver medal caps an impressive showing at provincials and gives the LWF program another strong result on the provincial stage.
While the final score was 6-3, the Miners can hold their heads high after pushing Richmond County to the limit in an unforgettable 11-inning championship battle.
